Gathering and natural drying of acorns

You will dry acorns after gathering them. It the best if you dry them on the sun like Indians did. In this case, arrange them on a tray and put them on the sun for a few days.

Store them inside the house or apartment at night. Dry them until they all have brown color so they will be dry. Otherwise, they will quickly go moldy.

Drying in the oven

You can also dry acorns in the oven. Heat the oven at 70 degrees Celsius and dry acorns for about twenty minutes. You can also dry them on a tray in the apartment, but in this case, you should dry it at least for a month.  Just be careful to place them somewhere dry, because otherwise they will quickly develop mold and multiply microorganisms, which will destroy the acorns.

Store the acorns

When acorns are completely dry, store them in plastic containers or bags in a cool dry place and use them within three months. In some cases it lasts half a year, but younger acorns are better. You can peel them and freeze the grains so they will be good for a long time. Acorns in plastic containers and bags can spoil quickly; despite the drying they may also get moldy.
